Quoth the Horse

We’ve officially entered the world of hip-hop. Who knew a horse could rap? Well, we recorded a whole album called QUOTH THE HORSE and we released it 8/3/19. Word.

1. Forevermore

A hip-hop remix of the acoustic version of Diverted Eyes… What?!

FOREVERMORE opens the album with some sweet vibes and a little spoken-word by Jack Elliott.

Lyrics:

If you thought this was the end look again

For this is only the beginning

And when these winning faces on our grinning minds

Sing battle cries into the night

We will rise into the backlit skies

Immortalized within the evening

2. Fat stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

In case anyone was wondering whether or not to forget the FS Fam…

Lyrics:

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

Jack:

Forget-me-not, you’d better not

Flowers tied up in your knotted hair

Bed bare, red-eyed grinding ‘til you die

Gracie style winning

With grace and style submitting

Who dares not care

This mare fares better than you can

Who sang Wu-Tang

Doing all you thought you can’t

Face me and I’ll kill you

Then I’ll kill your ghost

Face me and I’ll kill you

But I’ll do it with kindness

And you might not even notice

‘Cause I’ll stand up for your likeness

Take the time to pay some mind

This only costs a second of your time

This meaning of the verse you might just miss

Listen close as I switch up the flow

Don’t you know the power of the pony

Standing strong for the stallion

‘Cause that’s all I am

Just a yearling in the herd

Neighin’ making sure my voice is heard

One day we’ll be flying with the birds

But for right now all we have are words

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

Emma:

The herd is small but mighty

And it’s multiplying nightly

We heard they thought we’re slightly corny

But don’t you worry these ears don’t take it lightly

A field of form

Devoid of scorn

Demolish norms

To accomplish more

We’re the children of the king, come and fight me

And we’ll show you what we mean by chumps

Don’t be one, we’ll beat one

To see one and meet one

You’d really have to beat us to the punch

We’ll swing next and only once

We’re the boss, finish with a jump

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

Light:

Stuck inside the crowd

Searching for my herd

Everything’s so loud

Don’t understand a word

America the land run by the free

Look out for the ones that stare

They don’t want you to be

Differentiate yourself from a fish stuck in the sea

Stallion standing strong keep promoting unity

Uniformity

Nationality

The way you seem to be

Don’t mean shit to me

I want you to be you

I want you to stay true

Uniqueness

So special

Creative

A virtue

An honor to meet you

A wonder discovered

Joining up with Stallion

Is gonna change the world

Just a yearling in the herd

Neighin’ making sure my voice is heard

One day we’ll be flying with the birds

But for right now all we have are words

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

Riley:

These hearts beat together, there is no limit

So many roadblocks, it gets hard I admit it

People have their reservations and that’s fine I get it

But if anyone tries to shut us down shut us up

We’ll shake your hand and leave you outwitted

Listen up it’s time to get real and cut the crap

People thought we left school to fuck around, fuck that

There’s something to be said about being FoCo’s most productive band

Busier than a teenage boy’s reproductive gland

Doing all we can to stand up to the corrupted man

For now we play to small crowds

And phantom seas of people

What matters now

Is every single fan that seems so gleeful

Make it two, make it three

Fans that make the gang so lethal

Brick by brick is how we build higher than a steeple

The race is on are you in

This is our Fam, and you’ll never ever find it’s equal

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

Jack:

Oh shit don’t you dare admit

That you ever saw fit to omit

The gamut of the Laymen or

The handoff from the caveman for

The plan of the stallion horse

Forcing growth in all of us forevermore

You can’t ignore the chore we four implore

Sever off the sore

Amputate estates

Flying high over war-torn neighborhoods

Nevermore will they whore out the poor

For their overblown ability to soar

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

The Fat Stallion Fam ain’t nothing to forget

3. John Henry

John Henry -- released separately 7/27/19 -- calls all people to unite and dismantle the shackles of division.

Feat. Light Goodfellow

Lyrics:

I’m John Henry with the mic

Freed slave from society

Hammer hand pounded words

Recorded for propriety

Sinking my iron bars deep

Keep on reminding me

In the realm of mountain kings

Pale gods rule, but cannot see

Tunnels dug deep through the quarry of the wondering

Keep striking true and pounding hammers ringing 'til the chorus sings

Hallelujah all my kindred, for soon we’ll see the light

We’ll see the light that shines for all our kind

For all our kind are sure to find what’s free for all of us to see

For those of open mind

The open mind will see that all of us all are of a kind

Metal on metal, and bare flesh upon cold stone

Mountains shake above our heads, fearing gods that never shown

Still wedging into bedrock, disputing what is known

Impossible to overcome, tormentors breaking bones

Continue on, don’t fear the rod, the end is coming close

Evil men are few and far and most of them are ghosts

Hallelujah all my kindred, for soon we’ll see the light

We’ll see the light that shines for all our kind

For all our kind are sure to find what’s free for all of us to see

For those of open mind

The open mind will see that all of us all are of a kind

Pneumatic piston needs a new mechanic

The one they’ve got’s an addict they keep locked up in the attic

Clearly these pale god fanatics have no thoughts

Minds enslaved by the lymphatic impulse, survive at all costs

Problem they can’t solve ain't quadratic, only thematic

Of the charismatic race wash pale priests display with cinematic prowess

Devoid of a democratic process

Let us not confess to monastic pale-ists

Katabatic hate descends the mountain shaken by truth

Crack up the foundation

Break through the barrier

Melt chains into hammers

Our message has new carriers

Send it out on horseback

They'll make it, thank the ferrier

Horseshoe telegraph outgoing

Impervious to harriers

Crack up the foundation

Break through the barrier

Melt chains into hammers

Our message has new carriers

Send it out on horseback

They'll make it, thank the ferrier

Horseshoe telegraph outgoing

Impervious to harriers

Hallelujah all my kindred, for soon we’ll see the light

We’ll see the light that shines for all our kind

For all our kind are sure to find what’s free for all of us to see

For those of open mind

The open mind will see that all of us all are of a kind

Hallelujah all my kindred, for soon we’ll see the light

We’ll see the light that shines for all our kind

For all our kind are sure to find what’s free for all of us to see

For those of open mind

The open mind will see that all of us all are of a kind

4. lit

Rap and hip-hop sure have some charged opinions…

We’re here to have fun, yo.

Feat. Jack Elliott

Lyrics:

Man, fuck all this mumble rap shit

Woah, where is this attitude coming from?

Lil Wayne wannabes with their fake ass Migos flow

That’s fair, but it’s fun

Can’t they be original, ever?

Why do you have to always be so serious?

Sometimes you just want to have fun

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is gonna blow!

This shit is gonna blow!

Up in your hand, up in your face

Blowing off fingers, burning you face

If you don’t throw it away

It’s gonna ruin your day

Without a face your instagram will fade away

Without a hand you can’t post anyway

You think your pictures are fire?

I think it’s time you retire

Make your way back to the shire

Turning invisible, don’t make me lie

I told you this shit ‘bout to blow up

But I think you already know that

‘Cause you watched me hold a light to it

How else would this shit be so lit?

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

Here we go again

You’re thinking you’re already better than me

Without ever picking up your pen

You’re sinking in spaghetti while I’m feeling so free

Man, fuck outta here with that shit

I’m living my life and I’m feeling so lit

My team be living the dream strong enough we can flex anywhere that we want it

So saying no means we might not know the real way to fix any dare that just won’t fit

But if we stand up together and care for each other

We just might begin to see how similar we all are

We all are just sisters and brothers dancing and singing together at the same event

That is life that is what I mean when I say this fucking party is lit!

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

This shit is lit!

This shit is lit!

Don’t you forget

Blew twenty K I’m a G

I’m blowing up on the scene

They’re passing the torch to my team

But Imma let it be

I don’t care what they might see

My flame it burns bright green

Like nothing you have ever seen

I’m blowing up on the scene

Dynamite dynamite dynamite

I feel like I just might time it right

Rhyming like Imma cite spider bite

Either my fight or flight would leave you burned

Even if I turn it down my lighter setting’s flame

You’d be smart to learn all my tricks if you want to stay in the game

But I wish you luck no one will ever be the same

I am stern I am the fire you could never tame

5. get up

Everyone knows this isn’t easy. Do you get up when you’ve gotten down?

Feat. Jack Elliott

Lyrics:

Everytime I get up

I just get down again

Spending time I give up

Just to be let down again

Everytime I get up

I just get down again

Never ending these interrupting inner voices

Shutting me down again

This white blank page

Stares me in the face

Mumford mumbles in my head

This flesh will go to waste

Time flanks day

But who cares if I keep the pace

Turn my head, bite my ears

No one even knows that I joined the race

Only grazing, never hits

Still I write in search of Babel

Running in circles, these feet don’t feel so stable

This gravel in my shoe might one day be fatal

But it still won’t slow me down I know I will tell my tale

Trained for weeks

Dug so deep

Painfully

But I’m still too weak

Looking up, all I see is the top of the hill

But I don’t know how I will ever make it up there

Even if I spent my whole life climbing, grinding

Seeing everybody that’s already up above me

I never even beat my ego

Ergo, how will I ever be where my heart is telling me to go

I can’t say, so I guess I’ll stay

Right here writing just for me today

Everytime I get up

I just get down again

Spending time I give up

Just to be let down again

Everytime I get up

I just get down again

Never ending these interrupting inner voices

Shutting me down again

When I was young, I didn’t have a ton of friends

I guess I prefer to be alone

At home, on my own

With a song stuck in my soul that I just can’t seem to hold

A constant quest to dig within

But never really breaking ground

A question queueing up again

With lines of marks that won’t back down

Mindless scars left by this pen

Doubting every single sound

Brown notes thrown out leaving only grey

Now those loud no’s screaming over yay’s

Shut down gut sounds streaming down my face

With tomes on tomes of penned self-hate

Everytime I get up

I just get down again

Spending time I give up

Just to be let down again

Everytime I get up

I just get down again

Never ending these interrupting inner voices

Shutting me down again

Every time I get up

It feels like so much effort

Even when success is set up

Apparently I’ll just give up

The friends that I’ve made

Through the sounds I make

Never ever seem to stay

Much longer after the play

Curtains close, so they go

Never to be seen again

Blocking sets, the act forgets

The script of what was said

Was I only there with ability

Even though I’m doubting these

Can I can’t I stand for what

I’ve worked so hard to be

Everytime I get up

I just get down again

Spending time I give up

Just to be let down again

Everytime I get up

I just get down again

Never ending these interrupting inner voices

Shutting me down again

Everytime I get up

It’s a battle to the top

I have to tell myself to shut up

Otherwise I know I’ll mess it up

Crossing the bar and yelling at myself

Tossing the star back on the shelf

Coughing now from yelling

Calming down to help myself

Everytime I get up

It’s a battle to the top

Stepping out and getting caught

By everything telling me to stop

Crossing lines and changing lanes

Gritting my teeth through the pain

Despite what my doubt will say

I will make it there one day

Everytime I get down

I will get up again

Everytime I get down

I will get up again

Everytime I get down

I will get up again

Everytime I get down

I will get up again

6. this meet and greet

This jazzy piece reminds us all that any artist is just another person.

Feat. Jack Elliott, Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

It’s so damn cold outside right now

I can’t feel my toes under bright white snow

I’ve been waiting so long

Just so I can meet you

Practicing my own songs

Just so I can greet you

With a friendly little melody

A better me once beaconing from a balcony

Now steadily settling on the hood of a Bentley

Telling you you’ve always been such a good friend to me

Even though you’ve never even met me

The sun’s going down

Shadow’s stretching on the ground

And snow is still stacked on our heads

Making little mounds

But no one seems to mind each time

Smoke gets blown from another passing truck

Making it just a little bit tougher to breathe

Because we’ve found each other

And now we feel like brothers

And sisters out here on the same mission

Listening to the same list of masterpieces

Crafted by the mister soon to bless us with his presence

It’s so damn cold outside right now

I can’t feel my toes under all this snow

I hope you didn’t wait long

Just so I can meet you

I’m so glad you’re not gone

But I hope it’s not an issue

I guess I’m just not used to people wanting to get to know me

Usually it’s more like Scooby-Doo, Lucy Liu but who he though?

It’s cold out here bro

Why don’t we move this meet and greet inside the studio?

I’m hearing every word you say

And it’s blowing me away

I love the love you feel

For my craft and what I play

And literally I am memorizing every single word you say

‘Cause it’s what gets me through the gloomiest of rainy days

But my clouds come

Just like yours

Cold and heartless

Frozen over

I probably won’t ever feel I’ve earned this spectacle

So please don’t leave me here on the pedestal

7. utopia

How do you write a song to change the world? We just hope we can remind you of your own power.

Feat. Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

I heard you say

That it’s not gonna change

Are you afraid?

I think it’s you that won’t change

So here’s some change for your next exchange

I know it’s strange being up on stage

So burn your sage

You gotta disengage yourself

Estrange yourself from those who’d go and cage yourself

Teenage angst? more like righteous rage

Don’t shortchange yourself

Rearrange yourself

Engage enrage upstage those around yourself

Who’d go and gauge your wage as if it meant any more than just a number in this page of your life

So calm your anxiety

This is what is meant to be

It's a new-age prophecy

A better world for you and me

So calm your anxiety

This is what is meant to be

It's a new-age prophecy

A better world for you and me

Why can't it be Utopia?

You know I spoke to ya and you said you know

This world's got so much pain

So much hate

So much hunger

And I know that I'm not strong

I'm not brave

I'm no wonder so

How you gonna go and fucking change the world, yo?

Well all I know is I don't know what you all know but

I have to trust my gut

Avoid the rut

That leads down the road where my heart stays shut

I'm trying so hard to go far

So you can see the possibility for

Love, truth, trust, growth

Love, truth, trust, growth!

I need you to believe that you can be this person

And that it will matter

This is what is meant to be

This is what is meant to be

This is what is meant to be

8. Quincy

A brand new telling of the age-old story by “Bram” Stoker, Dracula!

Feat. Light Goodfellow

Lyrics:

Jonathan

Abraham?

You know we must do a terrible thing tonight, correct?

Yes, I do

Buddy Rich drum strokes

Making all the haters choke

Big band arrangement creating an engagement

Tapping toe cocktail party

Frank Sinatra’s already starting

Cat’s singing to the moon

Rat’s smoking, consuming booze

Now the chase is on

Old meets new through progressive avenues

Illuminate the black and white with hues full of color for every brother

Sisters keep away, there's sinister misters lurking

Vampiric Draculas sneaking up from the back of ya

Attack ya with smooth words, rich rings, want one thing

Stuck you dry till the life inside you cries

Enslaves you

Imprisoned now behind Transylvania castle lies

Iron bar fortress built up around your supple mind

Truth frees you but feels like wooden stakes pounding

Hammer falls sounding, cracks form aroundin' the light spills into your chest

Pierce you till you know what's best, what's true

How to find you a Van Helsing doctor

Hard to swallow garlic cloves shut them up

Everybody knows that power in darkness can't spark wits

Lighting up these torches

Let's run these demons out!

Has anybody gotten a hold of Lucy?

She wasn't with Molly, Jane or Mary

Is there anyone else left that's caring

Anyone at all that can stop staring?

Jonathan, where the hell you been?

Out partying with the Count again?

What's wrong with you, did you hit your head?

Come on, you aren't making any sense

What you're saying is that the count is actually dead, he ripped off poor Lucy's head

And that Mina is next?

Come on, how many have you had?

Think everyone is being gripped by death like they're on Ice

When really the problem here is mice

The Spanish flu is coming through and

The only one you ever think about is you

Hey, is that the Count?

If it is, I'm going to go get this shit sorted out

Hey you, Mister Count

Have you seen Lucy?

Jonathon, you must be stalwart and true for if you find yourself lacking and flee

I'll certainly be killed

Yes, Mina needs us

Then to Transylvania

New coal train station

Bells clang, stomach undulation

Quilted seats and stain marks

Button jackets 'round poison hearts

Engines fire pulling off

Yes, I'll have the stroganoff

Peer outside to look ahead

Batwing thoughts fly through my head

Wolves running alongside the track

Creeping shadows coming from the back

Now's time that I'm to go

Next upstage stagecoach

Pass a man with a blazing roach

Misty demons fast line approach

Close my eyes to clear my head

Lay back down inside my bed

Grasp out for an Iron Rod

Gripped it firm, my stakes are shod

Now, hunt him down

Hunt him down until he's found

Broken blinders pulled closed

Shrieking shades run from the post

Steak knives, plucked out eyes, mothers cry, child dies

The hunt is on to Dracula's castle

Break down the door, storm inside

Blood pressure paranoia, pulses blind

The Count's not here and he can't be found

We looked upstairs he's not around

Catacombs are empty

Now, hunt him down

Hunt him down until he's found

Above land, running now

Run him down into the ground

Now, hunt him down

Hunt the count till he's found

Above land, drive him back

Down

Tonight's nightmares seem unending

Breadcrumbs left are sending

Our trio on to London, to stem an ending

Hunt him down, hunt down the Count

Hunt him down until he's found

Above land? Na, underground

Harker hints as pulses pound

One by one our marks compound, gaining ground

Going smooth, till the park

Found Quincey torn apart

Left for dead without a beating heart

Shrieking screams were his final words

American true to his final verse

Now, hunt him down

Hunt him down until he's found

Found the Count underground

Last hiding hole left in town

Now, hunt him down

Hunt the Count until he's found

Wooden stakes, hammer pound

Count, Down

Shrieking screams were his final words

American true to his final words

9. The iconic quartet

The result of one of our very first freestyle sessions, this sesh made us ask, “Hey, what if we did a whole album?” And here we are. :)

Lyrics:

Saving humanity

Ladies and gentlemen

The likes of which you have never seen before in all of your lives

You've heard of them before

The iconic quartet

Wolverine, Spiderman, Mermaid Man

And last but certainly not least, ladies and gentlemen

We have the one and only Iron Man

Riley:

People ask

Since when did you become an expert at humanity and life

I say to the world that I do the best I can

Take things in my stride

I do the best to be good to life

I'm not perfect

But I do what I can

Help others in their strife

I don't want to sound too Stark

But the world has too many I-earn mans

Not I-give mans

Please do the best you can

Earn your prize

It's even better when you take what you have

To help others enjoy the ride

Like a joy ride

Also known as Tony Stark

Created his own exoskeleton-like robot machine

We also have Wolverine

He has six claws, six razor-sharp foot-long claws

That come right out of his hands

Just like, you would guess, a wolverine!

Light:

Bad nightmares getting hunted through the forest

Don't look behind you the hooded man ain't a florist

Can feel the intent

Fleeing gets overwhelming

I'm hit without consent

In the pit and Hell sings

Through clenched fists the claws come out

I'm Wolverine, twelve-inch blades sing

Like hot knives through butter lives

Ripped apart, pheonix fire in my heart

from the start, want you to be a part of my razor art

Wake up in a rage

My fists punch straight through your ribcage

Scream out that I'm sorry

Can't make this go away

Held you in my arms

Rivers pouring down my face

Watch your fire fade away

We have Mermaid Man

Don't know what his actual name is

But ladies and gentlemen he is famously known

Emma:

The standard for greatness in geriatrics

Teaching the best in aqua fitness

How to grow

Spread your leaves

It's aquaponics

Set the dial

Set the tone

Get your degree in Wumbology

You decide how big to be

'Til you can see what's meant to be

But you can't see our invisible boat-mobi-

Evil!

We also have Spiderman slinging his way through the skyscrapers of New York City

Jack:

But aren’t we all caught in a web of lies

You can call me peter Parker, or sometimes Miles

I said I’ll vote for Donald Glover to try

His hand at my plan, that lad can fly so high

We know he’s so childish

In a way that we need though

Grand Casino owners hand me the blue Lamborghini keys

Louder than a Fisker: Gambino

(Are you eating though?)

(Are you eating though?)

Back to the topic at hand

I am blasting webs and spinning plans

With my main man, Stark

Ponder where to wander

How to start lending MJ empty starters

Ending anyway steady ballers

All I need to see is a smile on her face to know I’ve gotten all that I deserve

I do this all for her

Here the four come together saving humanity

10. the king (Feat. Dr. jackyll)

Someone had to say it.

Feat. Jack Elliott

I’m the king, just call me Vlad

Killing competition I’m my right-hand man

All you see is now my land

Sailing, never failing hailing trailing bands

Impaled entrails left for dead

Drawn and quartered and then beheaded

Embalmed the beat with what I’ve said

Burning up the wood inside the shed

Smoke fills up and chokes your joke

We hot box our tracks with just one toke

Fire in the box, pillage sonic hopes

Tired, but we’re sickly, plagued with gold

I might be Arthur, my mind Excalibur

Or Genghis Kahn, the game my pawn

An owner just a loner plainly scripting master plays like Homer

Just remember

I’m the king

Bitch I’m the king

I’m the king

Bitch I’m the king

I’m the king

Bitch I’m the king

I’m the king

Bitch I’m the king

Back again

This track a pen

I’m locked in swallowing the key

Followers need not leaving my side

Inside IV drips ink into my mind

Melting pots meddle masticate then modulate to another new idea

I’m the king of my own castle

Anything I sing might bring you to sit back down and kiss the ring

T.P. bar none the master of what I create

This plate half full checkmate when I play against myself

Have any of you cheapskates bothered to pay attention

Fire Squad

Cole stole the crown

He tore it, broke it down to fodder

I’m so fucking hungry

But I’m not looking to bite anyone that came before me

Mothers fathers standing on the branches of their family tree

We are all kings

We all are kings

We are all kings

We all are kings

We are all kings

We all are kings

We are all kings

We all are kings

11. Miss information

This is definitely a jab at media outlets and their attempts to divide Americans.

Feat. Riley Wilkes

Lyrics:

Lights, Camera

It’s too bad the critics are raining down

With producers screaming your ratings are down

Despite an era of traction

You’re on a slippery slope

No one to say your delivery’s dope

Just another day on the screen

Did you have something for me or

Just a monologue of opinions to say that have more value than mine cause yours gets you paid

Not to mention your mantra

That you first used to launch ya

To quicken the waters between us and them

You monster

But people believe in you

You could say hide your gem die outside

But you’re their favorite anchor

And their anger is why you run this channel

And sometimes a one-sided story is all they can handle

Cause now days being proven wrong is too much to gamble

Just another game that we could dismantle

But instead, we get dressed

Hide the distress

Give less, suppress, come home and can’t rest

So we turn on the set to watch someone yell from a desk

If you thought we could be misled

Then you misunderstood

You made a mistake

You can say what you want

Your agenda’s exposed

You’re a web of lies

Miss information

If you thought we could be misled

Then you misunderstood

You made a mistake

You can say what you want

Your agenda’s exposed

You’re a web of lies

Miss information

I hope that you’re happy with what we’ve become

I’ll pessimistically say your plan’s statistically dumb

I’ll realistically say that I’ve never such division in all my life

Homes divided cannot stand

A concept that everybody understands

But we've been duped, and seduced

Belittled, broken and used

To the point that we use any excuse

To justify ourselves for just being us

To overcompensate cause you tell us they think we’re fucked

Look at your reflection in the lens

Reflect on your past and wonder

Is this what you wanted to become when you were younger

Having to do something even bolder for

Better ratings higher numbers

Using that screen time to bring on the thunder

So that your career doesn’t go asunder

And to think that people have the gall

To look down on their local plumber

Your party’s agenda fuels your hunger

Hunting down groups of helpless youngsters

'Til they find themselves lost and plundered

Heirs and heiresses inheriting slumber

If you thought we could be misled

Then you misunderstood

You made a mistake

You can say what you want

Your agenda’s exposed

You’re a web of lies

Miss information

But remember that you are accused

You hold a time bomb we lit that fuse

And we’ll trample you down with these hooves

People are waiting its time to produce

The lights dim the camera is off and the action is ours

We gave you shouting lies too much power

You’re coming with us now we only grow louder

If you thought we could be misled

Then you misunderstood

You made a mistake

You can say what you want

Your agenda’s exposed

You’re a web of lies

Miss information

If you thought we could be misled

Then you misunderstood

You made a mistake

You can say what you want

Your agenda’s exposed

You’re a web of lies

12. Getting lost, pt. 1

The first edition of the Getting Lost trilogy, a tale of love and loss.

Feat. Jack Elliott and Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

Remember there used to be a time in our lives

When you were just the girl next door and I was just the guy in search of something more

Back before we found this new love digging undiscovered ground

Back before the love for life lit up your lovely eyes

Back before you opened up your door and rocked me to my core

Back before the lore of new life sparked the flame within us

Back before I knew you and before you knew of me

Back before we tore away knowing fools gold’s what they sold us

We were so young, unknowing of the wonders of the world around us

I almost wish I could go back and shake myself and make myself

Walk up to you and talk to you

But instead, I only stared at that picture-perfect portrait

Picture-perfect portrait

From afar, stuck in place

Stumped for words when you spun in place

And start to walk up to me, motions bearing beauty

You were floating oh so steady

Endless oceans in your eyes

I can’t help losing track of time in your picture-perfect portrait

Please don’t go

I know that I’m a little lost

But I don’t mind so much

As long as I am lost with you

Please don’t go

I know that I’m a little lost

But I don’t mind so much

As long as I am lost with you

September feels like the greatest time we must get

One year later from the day that we first met

And I get to wake up every morning with you lying in our bed

The sound of music comping every word you’ve ever said

Even when we’re in the red and our hearts are filled with so much dread

Every friend reminds us that the needle needs its thread

Instead, I grin, cause I see we can

And I know that things will be okay in the end

Sipping morning coffee

Gazing through the window

Other colors stop me

Reds and blues and orange and yellow

It’s a picture-perfect morning

A picture-perfect morning

Sitting here with you splitting needs for two

Sipping tea with you can’t be boring early in the morning

Looking up and getting lost deep inside your eyes

It seems so easy to be losing track of time

On this picture-perfect morning

On this picture-perfect morning

We both know

We both will go

And wander the world

Getting lost together

We both know

We both will go

And wander the world

Getting lost together

Please don’t go

I know that I’m a little lost

But I don’t mind so much

As long as I am lost with you

Please don’t go

I know that I’m a little lost

But I don’t mind so much

As long as I am lost with you

Unplanned roads through abandoned towns

Unmanned boats that’ve run aground

Every new turn new land discovered

New friends new plans to be uncovered

A night in Paris, a fight in Vegas

A sight before us, a choice made for us

No turning back now the junction's final

On the off-ramp switching up the style

You said that we would be okay

But then you chose to turn away

Now I have no words to say

Lost on the road without a way

So much for that picture-perfect journey

So much for that picture-perfect journey

Now you’re just the girl next door

And I’m the guy in search of something more

13. flip your luck

You gotta do whatever you can to flip your luck…

The tale of a bank robbery gone wrong, from everyone’s point of view.

Feat. Jack Elliott and Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

Yo, wait, what’s all the buzz

My phone calling my name is what it was

All alone, thoughts insane

Who’s pulling these stunts

One of my boys on the other end saying this is us

This is our time, our pain is soon to be gone because

He knows a way to run the game and give the runts the runs

The run around we’ll gun em down to show we’ve had enough

A local with a mill and some bread for us

Free for the taking if we ghost the fuzz

But we’ll put em in the ground if we feel we must

Nothing’s ever easy if you’re born like us

But you do whatever you can to flip your luck

It’s only one day we’ll have to act tough

Then we’ll be good to go, life won’t be so rough

Anything we want we can call our stuff

You know you do whatever you can to flip your luck

Woah, wait a second, son be still

Need I remind you of all I’ve built

I never asked for help I did this all by myself

I stood up tall as I walked through hell

I scaled the wall now I never wait for clientele

And so-called killers look to me for when to buy and sell

Not a worry in the world now I’m doing so well

The day I went public I scripted my will

Leaving it all to you, you think I’m gonna lose that mill

I know you know I wasn’t born in wealth

I stuck to the grind even when I felt stuck

Because you do whatever you can to flip your luck

I never want you to need to ask for help

Someone’s finna try us, they’ll burn in hell

Who could stand to take from people like us

When we did everything we could to flip our luck

Yo, I don’t think I’m ready, but I pull down my mask

My homie beside me doesn’t want me to guess

A second on the clock twice our time will pass

My hand on my piece time to face it and spazz

Breaking in doesn’t mean a rock through the glass

We step through the door now there’s no turning back

Putting hands in the air like I’m teaching the class

With pupils growing large the G’s I demand

No harm done, only one man to smack

Everyone is safe, we’re only digging his stash

But I’m cut off by a scream from my right-hand man

Clutching his chest collapsing with blood in his hand

I run to his side, but I know I’m too late

As the whole room gasps his pulse fades away

I spot a kid with a gat, and get ready to cut

I’ve gotta do whatever I can to flip my luck

I know I’m not ready but I don’t have a choice

All my men pallbearers getting ready to hoist

Standing in black, battle cries killed my voice

But the weight on my shoulders won’t ever disperse

A lost heist cost thrice the life of these boys

A price I can’t pay back with all of my ice

The big boss missed what his only son advised

With a flick of the wrist, I must have been deaf in the noise

So, of course, he took it on himself to do something nice

For his old man, he’d hold down the fort this time

I mean he always heard the same thing growing up

You gotta do whatever you can to flip your luck

So then did I have a hand in this violence

I was always occupied in the growth of my business

Even the other boys I guess I can’t blame too much

‘Cause they did everything they could to flip their luck

14. Scar tattoos

A song about taking the hardships in your life and using art to make them something beautiful instead.

Feat. Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

Why do the scars on our skin make us so proud

Is it for adrenaline-fueled stories of pain

We’ve all been there before

We have our souvenirs

We are creatures of art

There are no limits here

Graffiti on our wall

A waterlily pond

So if your world bursts and no one is listening

Remember it’s a world that demands what's due

And if the silence becomes too deafening

Together we will wear our scar tattoos

Even though I’ll never forget how it felt

Songs curate the past, create a joyful voice

Despite the black and blue

There are other colors too

Sometimes marks are permanent

But you can use tattoos

To glorify a fall

A picture on your wall

So if your cloud nine drops you like hailstones

Remember that the damage doesn’t define you

And if this music isn’t your answer

Together we’ll create our scar tattoos

I hope I don’t sound repetitive

Please hear me out

I hope this makes sense

And I hope I don’t sound repetitive

Please hear me out

I hope this makes sense

When our lives end and we lay down for the last time

We'll remember all the good things and forgive the bad

And when they give us one last glance

They’ll never forget our scar tattoos

Would

The acoustic album you never saw coming, WOULD is a collection of folk, country, jazz, and singer-songwriter tunes we are very excited to share with the world.

1. Of all the words

Painting the beginning of the album with an ethereal landscape, OF ALL THE WORDS is an adaptation of a piece composed by Emma Dawn over 12 years ago, her very first original composition. Originally written for piano, we found the tune to fit the dulcimer excellently.

2. Would you (hold my hand)

WOULD YOU (HOLD MY HAND) is a sweet little tune about enjoying the small moments in life that bring you joy, and expressing it!

Sung by: Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

Staring at a blank page

Sun pours in my window

Hear the birds are chirping

And I can't help but smile

I walk down the sidewalk

It's like I'm floating in a dream

Breeze in my hair

Would you hold my hand

I sing

I sing because my heart is happy

I sing

And I sing

I sing because my heart is happy

I sing

There's mist across the valley

The moon glows softly overhead

A flash of light cuts through the night

The stars dance only for us

So I sing

I sing because my heart is happy

I sing

Oh I sing

I sing because you make me happy

Sing

3. Busy girl

BUSY GIRL is an upbeat gypsy-jazz tune that’ll get you dancing to the struggles of love and relationships.

Sung by: Riley Wilkes

Lyrics:

Busy girl

That's what you look like

Busy girl

That's what you act like

Saying things that make me feel right

Saying things that make us seem right

I'm trying hard to leave you

Shouldn't it be easy

Just like that

I'm trying to believe you

I know you're keeping busy

To get me back

Outta my head, outta my head

That's how you make me feel

Outta my head, outta my head

You make it seem so real

Outta my head, outta my head

That's how you make me feel

Outta my head, outta my head

That's how you make me feel

Busy girl

It's time to take a breath

Busy girl

It's time to understand

The real thing babe is all I ask of you

The real thing babe is the way I do

Crossroads lead to crossroads

Goodbyes lead to bygones

Just like that

Keep yourself busy

Thought it might be easy

Just like that

Outta my head, outta my head

That's how you make me feel

Outta my head, outta my head

You make it seem so real

Outta my head, outta my head

That's how you make me feel

Outta my head, outta my head

That's how you make me feel

How you make me feel

How you make me feel

How you make me feel

Outta my head, outta my head

That's how you make me feel

Outta my head, outta my head

You make it seem so real

Outta my head, outta my head

That's how you make me feel

Outta my head, outta my head

That's how you make me feel

4. Steel doors

Surprising most of us with an intensely classic country sound, STEEL DOORS is the story of blockades and barriers in life, emotionally and otherwise.

Sung by: Light Goodfellow

Lyrics:

Just like that I woke up in a town quite like this

But every door was boarded up and the streets were all a mess

I stumbled my way to the nearest frying pan

But in the doorway stood a dusty wise old man

He said

Son it looks as though you’re feeling pretty low

And I’ve gotta say I’ve been there a time or two before

So before you lay your cards down and lay down in the ground

Remember that we all fight steel doors

He said his name was Arlo as he welcomed me inside

He told me what to leave alone like he had something to hide

He offered me a drink of something strong that had no taste

Said he had the feeling that I didn’t know the way

He said

Son it looks as though you’re feeling pretty low

And I’ve gotta say I’ve been there a time or two before

So before you lay your cards down and lay down in the ground

Remember that we all fight steel doors

He turned and led me to the back store room of his tiny little shop

Leaning on the wall was a heavy metal door

Deadbolts and chains and barricades made sure it never opened

I heard screams on the other side that Arlo couldn’t hear

He said

Son it looks as though you’re feeling pretty low

And I’ve gotta say I’ve been there a time or two before

This little cage of mine keeps in all that I find

And never lets this pain out to the world

So before you lay your cards down and lay down in the ground

Remember that we all fight steel doors

And then, wouldn’t you know it

That damn door fell down and crushed Arlo right then and there

5. diverted eyes (acoustic)

The folk-y acoustic version of DIVERTED EYES is a welcome addition to our acoustic collection. Featuring several new instruments and sounds, it manages to keep its original intense, mourning feel.

Sung by: Riley Wilkes

Lyrics:

Look out my window, snow falls and I can’t keep my mind straight
I hear it coming, diverted eyes are making their way back
I grow tired but now it makes it easy to leave out what’s next
I’m not ashamed but I try to push it down
I try to just leave it out

And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes

Who would’ve guessed it? It’s easier said but never done
Despite it all, I’m smiling at myself in the mirror
And the best part is that it always smiles right back at me
I’m not ashamed but I try to push it down
I will just leave it out

And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes

Look out my window, snow falls and I can’t keep my mind straight
I hear it coming, diverted eyes are making their way back

And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes

And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes
And I know I finally found my diverted eyes

6. give mi a sin

An ode to the irrational number E (Euler’s number), GIVE MI A SIN is a playful take based off of the first 16 decimals of the number translated to a chromatic scale. It was discovered that by doing this, the melody actually resolves to the key of E! Composed during her time at the University of Wyoming, this piece is one of Emma’s best.

7. like you

Every album needs a love song, and LIKE YOU is the perfect sweet introspective ode to young love.

Sung by: Jack Elliott, Riley Wilkes

Lyrics:

I think I want to wake up next to you

On this bright and shining day

Just watching you matching your shoes

Then let’s throw them all away

Who needs to go to class

I want to watch the day pass by with you

Why can’t we lie still

Together the world will be beautiful

Like you

Look at me right now

Everything is right now with you

Just flash me a smile and make the world beautiful

Like you

I think I want to stay right here with you

Through good times and the bad

No matter we’ll make it through

Until I see you once again

Who needs to go to class

I want to watch the day pass by with you

Why can’t we lie still

Together the world will be beautiful

Like you

Look at me right now

Everything is right now with you

Just flash me a smile and make the world beautiful

Like you

Who needs to go to class

I want to watch the day pass by with you

Why can’t we lie still

Together the world will be beautiful

Like you

Look at me right now

Everything is right now with you

Just flash me a smile and make the world beautiful

Like you

8. By blue stallion street

BY BLUE STALLION STREET is the much-needed true jazz venture for us Stallions. Enjoy this little original head with some tasty solos by Emma Dawn, Riley Wilkes, and Jack Elliott.

9. Ask (acoustic)

A fresh and folk-y take on one of our favorites, this acoustic cover of ASK is just what the doctor ordered.

Lyrics:

You could never seem to see

Though we both knew we were never meant to be

And you could never be for me

What we needed for to last

Though we knew it couldn't last

You could never seem to feel

What I knew should've been surreal

And you could never seem to grasp

'Cause I always had to ask

You know, I shouldn't have to ask

I shouldn't have to ask

What's going on inside

I shouldn't have to ask

What makes you want to hide

I shouldn't have to ask

I shouldn't have to ask

We could fuss and fight for days

And you knew what to do to make me stay

And you thought you had so much control

But you pushed it all away

Yeah you threw it all away

Threw it all away

Threw it all away

You threw it all away

I shouldn't have to ask

What's going on inside

I shouldn't have to ask

What makes you want to hide

I shouldn't have to ask

To spend some time away

I shouldn't have to ask

What makes you think this way

I shouldn't have to ask

I shouldn't have to ask

10. getting lost, pt. 2

The second part to a song yet to be released, GETTING LOST is a soft lament describing grief and loss.

Sung by: Jack Elliott

Lyrics:

A slow song yearns

It hurts and it's gone

I keep telling myself that I don't mind but

We both know I do

How did I ever feel joy in being lost

Now my hands just won't stop

You chose to choose your own path without me

Now my hands just won't stop shaking

I used to get lost inside your eyes

But now I'm drowning in the flood

You used to tell me things would be alright

But now you've gone I just feel lost

So lost

A call from a so-called brother

Now my hands just won't stop

A father without a daughter

Now my hands just won't stop shaking

It feels so long, so long ago

The feeling that nothing could ever scare me

We were running into the new unknown

But now you're gone I just feel lost

So lost

I keep telling myself that I don't mind but

We both know I do

How did I ever feel joy in being lost

Now my hands just won't stop

You chose to choose your own path without me

Now my hands just won't stop shaking

It feels so long, so long ago

The feeling nothing could ever scare me

I used to get lost inside your eyes

But now I'm drowning in the flood

You used to tell me things would be alright

But now you've gone I just feel lost

So lost

11. run away (with me)

Open your eyes to new possibilities, RUN AWAY (WITH ME) is about opening up to the new experiences that come along with new relationships.

Sung by: Jack Elliott

Lyrics:

I had a dream the other night

That you were here with me living the same life

We found these wonders of the world together

We changed the world for the better

Days were plain and full of gray

I was just wandering the static in my way

But color floods through my brain

The moment you stepped through my doorway

Vibrant reds and blues yellows and greens

They nearly awoke me from this fantasy

Your eyes were the deepest purple shone

Brighter than any dream that I had known

Run away with me to the land of possibility

Where we can be whoever we want to be

Run away with me to the land of possibility

Where we can be together

You pulled me from my lonely den

The cage I built for me, my only friend

Down that old dirt road we ran

Past the gate where I'd never been

Awesome skies and strange new structures

The wonders of the world looming over

The reflections in your eyes shine

And make me brave enough to face these fears of mine

New colors that I've never seen

New wonders that've never been

Because of us

Because of us

I had a dream the other night

That you were here with me living the same life

We found these wonders of the world together

We changed the world for the better

I turned to you to thank you

This journey changed the way that I see my life

But you said you knocked down my door

Just so you could have a friend to face your fears with

Run away with me to the land of possibility

Where we can be whoever we want to be

Run away with me to the land of possibility

Where we can be together

12. Seeds (acoustic)

Written to herself, Emma Dawn uses SEEDS to describe the feelings of dealing with mental illness. Not every day is perfect, and not every day is easy, we all know that too well.

Please reach out to us, or your friends or family, or your doctor if you are experiencing these feelings.

Sung by: Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

I saw you in your chair

But I knew better, I knew you weren't really there

Cause I heard you talking in your sleep

Dreaming "things would be better if only you weren't so weak"

I know the pain of feeling broken is hard to overcome

And when you get too far

It's hard to know what is real and what is not

You want to close your eyes forever, the world's better off

You want to fade away

But please don't fade away

There's a saying, I thought it was true

It goes "Be like the people around who take care of you"

And so I followed, I thought it was right

And I lost myself as I watched them go into the light

So if you say that I lack substance, I'd probably agree

Cause it's a little hard to grow as large

When you forgot to plant the seeds

And you know time keeps marching onwards, with or without us

So if you need me to

I will wait for you

Diverted Eyes

de take 3.jpg

The New Scene Magazine review:

This Fort Collins-based quartet trades in driving, upbeat rock that verges on power pop, particularly in album opener “Behind It All,” sung by Riley Wilkes and Light Goodfellow with the urgency and minor chords of 20/20. Emma Dawn’s trumpet provides a wild hair-up-the-ass quality that makes them instantly identifiable. Emma sings “All I’ve Got,” summoning the ghost of Milwaukee’s great lost power poppers, The Shivvers. “Ask” could have come off a Fleetwood Mac album. The five-minute “In Your Name” grabs your ears with its mammoth prog-rock bottom, reminiscent of the Neal Morse Band. “In Your Name” is stadium-ready anthem rock, with a humongous guitar/drums/bass workout, everybody singing including guitarist Riley Wilkes and bassist Jack Elliott, segues into the proggy “Big Break” which will send you searching for your Yes and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer records.
Highly recommended.

- Mike A. Baron, Dec. ‘18

The nostalgia album you never knew you needed, DIVERTED EYES is finally available for your aural pleasure on all major digital music platforms.

1. Behind It All

BEHIND IT ALL is a poppy tune about having everything you need to achieve your goals right in front of you, but choosing to overthink things instead of moving ahead.

Sung by: Riley Wilkes - Light Goodfellow

Lyrics:

Waited so that I could make it alright
It was something that I almost missed
Here alone with the rain in my eyes
It was something that I couldn’t see

There you were
Standing there
Being beautiful
But I’m yours now
And it’s alright
Yeah it’s alright

And I know that I’m not the only one
But here I am once more
Just to make you see now that I can’t rest
Behind it all, I do my best
I have my reasons and they have me
But here I am once more
Just to make you see now that I can’t rest
Behind it all, I do my best

Now and then when I see her smile
It makes me stop and I think a while
But if I keep on thinking right now
I’ll miss the beauty that you’re being now

There you were
Standing there
Being beautiful
But I’m yours now
And it’s alright
Yeah it’s alright

And I know that I’m not the only one
But here I am once more
Just to make you see now that I can’t rest
Behind it all, I do my best
I have my reasons and they have me
But here I am once more
Just to make you see now that I can’t rest
Behind it all, I do my best

Why do I just want to sit here and wait
Why do I just want to wait for dust to set
Why can’t I just make it happen while you’re near
Why can’t I just make it happen while you’re here

I’m not the only one
Behind it all, I do my best
I’m not the only one
Right now I’m alright (Alright)
I’m not the only one
But here I am once more (Once more)
I’m not the only one
Behind it all, I do my best

And I know that I’m not the only one
But here I am once more
Just to make you see now that I can’t rest
Behind it all, I do my best
I have my reasons and they have me
But here I am once more
Just to make you see now that I can’t rest
Behind it all, I do my best

2. All I've Got

ALL I'VE GOT is about the realization that there will be challenges and difficulties along your journey, despite your best intentions and efforts.

Sung by: Emma Dawn - Jack Elliott, Riley Wilkes

Lyrics:

You don’t realize how much I
Try to make you mine
No matter what I’ve been doing
Here I stand alone
Breaking down the walls that surround me
Keeping me away from the outside
There she goes and I stand here thinking
Thinking that she knows

That I try to make her mine but
She looks away and leaves me drained
But I try to make her mine but
She looks away but I still say that
I, oh I try
I try to make her mine
Oh I, oh I try
I try to make her mine

Believe me now when I say that
This is all I’ve got
I try to make the best
Out of limits that hold me down
People say that I’m better off just
Leaving out the pieces I can’t fix
Making up for life and what I’ve missed
Only goes to show

That I try to make her mine but
She looks away and leaves me drained
But I try to make her mine but
She looks away but I still say that
I, oh I try
I try to make her mine
Oh I, oh I try
I try to make her mine

And this is all I’ve got but I know that I am alright
And it won’t be long before I come into your life
And what matters now is that someday always comes (But only once)
And when you least expect it I’ll make it worth your while (With all I’ve got)

Oh I try to make her mine but
She looks away and leaves me drained
But I try to make her mine but
She looks away but I still say that
I, oh I try
I try to make her mine
Oh I, oh I try
I try to make her mine

3. Honey And Wine

HONEY AND WINE explains that even when you don't see eye to eye and relationships fall apart, guilt doesn't need to weigh you down.

Sung by: Light Goodfellow

Lyrics:

You like honey and I like wine
In the crossroads, someone’s left behind
Told all about it in the Times
View the world from behind those eyes

Jagged lines, rips divide
Scars that form shape a life
Those that fall are kept inside
The rest file in, unified

I’m not gonna be your villain
Heroes don’t come without flaws
Right now’s a catch-22
I won’t be the bad guy for you

I’m not gonna be your villain
Heroes don’t come without flaws
Right now’s a catch-22
I won’t be the bad guy for you

Rooves fly off as the wind blows in
Bring the boys ‘round with hammer in hand
Crack the beams and splitting seams
When demons roam, hide that golden gleam

I’m not gonna be your villain
Heroes don’t come without flaws
Right now’s a catch-22
I won’t be the bad guy for you

I’m not gonna be your villain
Heroes don’t come without flaws
Right now’s a catch-22
I won’t be the bad guy for you

Starlit streets before bedroom sheets
This day starts before the dawn
Leaves fall upon empire streets
The sirens begin their song

Red engines race to City Park
And answer to the call
The flame’s not found
Someone’s down
Goodbye’s written on the wall

I’m not gonna be your villain
Heroes don’t come without flaws
Right now’s a catch-22
I won’t be the bad guy for you

I’m not gonna be your villain
Heroes don’t come without flaws
Right now’s a catch-22
I won’t be the bad guy for you

4. Ask

ASK is the first single from our full-length album Diverted Eyes! One of the oldest songs on the album, ASK is all about communication.

Sung by: Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

You could never seem to see
Though we both knew we were never meant to be
And you could never be for me
What we needed for to last
Though we knew it couldn't last

You could never seem to feel
What I knew should've been surreal
And you could never seem to grasp
'Cause I always had to ask
You know, I shouldn't have to ask

I shouldn't have to ask
What's going on inside
I shouldn't have to ask
What makes you want to hide
I shouldn't have to ask
I shouldn't have to ask

We could fuss and fight for days
And you knew what to do to make me stay
And you thought you had so much control
But you pushed it all away
Yeah you threw it all away

Threw it all away
Threw it all away
You threw it all away

I shouldn't have to ask
What's going on inside
I shouldn't have to ask
What makes you want to hide
I shouldn't have to ask
To spend some time away
I shouldn't have to ask
What makes you think this way
I shouldn't have to ask
I shouldn't have to ask

5. Empty Rooms

EMPTY ROOMS gives a glimpse at the potential negative isolation our advancing culture offers, and to not give up freedom for technological comforts.

Sung by: Light Goodfellow - Jack Elliott, Riley Wilkes

Lyrics:

We shoot ourselves in empty rooms
To post to strangers we’ll never meet
Sitting on couches and cushions
Tweeting out tensions instead of seeking sensation
Clinically challenged we grasp our for balance
Not knowing yet who we are
But don’t you fret
Living life is the best part

We gather together for gossip
With those of us we see as our own
Passing time as preachers
Speaking a gospel that speaks alone
Tragically teaching not knowing we’re seeking
We all start to rip apart
But don’t you fret
Living life is the best part

We all are people and we need to stand
United together across the land
Wars and bloodshed all need to end
How can we keep on destroying our friends
If we continue we’ll come to end
Love can unite us
Come be my friend

We have more in common than looks
Don’t let yourselves be divided by fools
The taskmaster rulers that govern
Have no power over you, you hold the tools
Get lost in the balance and find your own talents
Don’t let them tell you what’s art
And don’t forget
Living life is the best part

We all are people and we need to stand
United together across the land
Wars and bloodshed all need to end
How can we keep on destroying our friends
If we continue we’ll come to end
Love can unite us
Come be my friend

Come be my friend, come be my friend
Come be my friend, come be my friend
Come be my friend, come be my friend (Wars and bloodshed all need to end)
Come be my friend, come be my friend
Come be my friend, come be my friend
Come be my friend, come be my friend

6. Diverted Eyes

The title track for our album, DIVERTED EYES is about mustering up the courage to stand up against social norms and expectations to start your own path.

Sung by: Riley Wilkes - Emma Dawn

7. Bridges

Sung by: Riley Wilkes - Emma Dawn, Jack Elliott, Light Goodfellow

Lyrics:

I think I know how you’re feeling
I think we’ve been down the same road
Wondering what we’re gonna do now
Looking back we just try to leave it out
You’ve got a lot on your mind
I can tell by the look in your face now that
Something’s wrong
That you feel unknown

Nobody said that your bridges would put you ahead
They’re the ones that you need right now
Nobody said that your bridges would put you ahead
They’re the ones that won’t let you fall

I think I know what you’re doing
I think I know why you walked away
You left your nicks on the table
You try to hide it but it’s too late
You say you have your reasons
For leaving now but it’s been so long
And I want you back
But you don’t come around

Nobody said that your bridges would put you ahead
They’re the ones that you need right now
Nobody said that your bridges would put you ahead
They’re the ones that won’t let you fall

You think you know how I’m feeling
You think you’ve been down the same road
Turn around and look me in the eyes
And don’t you dare leave anything out
You’ve had a lot on your mind
But you only ever think about yourself
So I think let’s burn this bridge down

So you think that you’ve done enough
But I doubt that
Because your love’s flat
So take a step off the beaten path
Because remember (Remember)
It gets you nowhere (It gets you nowhere)
Remember (Remember)
It gets you nowhere (It gets you nowhere)
Remember (Remember)
It gets you nowhere

Nobody said that your bridges would put you ahead
They’re the ones that you need right now
Nobody said that your bridges would put you ahead
They’re the ones that won’t let you fall
Nobody said that your bridges would end your regrets
They’re the ones that you need right now
Nobody said that your bridges would put you ahead
They’re the ones that won’t let you fall

8. In Your Name

Sung by: Riley Wilkes - Jack Elliott, Emma Dawn, Light Goodfellow

Lyrics:

Some people take the high road
And pave the way others could not make
Sometimes alone
Springing up through the twisted cracks
They come and go
Giving light on a cloudy day
And they sing their song
Even though others might fade away

I want to hear it said (these things have changed me)
From the ones who walk in your name (these things have saved me)
Hear it said (these things have changed me)
From the ones who walk in your name (these things have saved me)
Only you can make it right again
Only you can make them see the clown
Only you can lift us when we’re down
In your name

While I sit at home
The sun starts to set but I see them there
Looking at us
As our destination starts to change
And we justify
Why we put thorns on a rose
But they’re still in bloom
Coming up and speaking out

I want to hear it said (these things have changed me)
From the ones who walk in your name (these things have saved me)
Hear it said (these things have changed me)
From the ones who walk in your name (these things have saved me)
Only you can make it right again
Only you can make them see the clown
Only you can lift us when we’re down
In your name

Hear it said (these things have changed me)
From the ones who walk in your name (these things have saved me)
Hear it said (these things have changed me)
From the ones who walk in your name (these things have saved me)
Only you can make it right again
Only you can make them see the clown
Only you can lift us when we’re down
In your name

9. Big Break

BIG BREAK is the third single from our full-length album Diverted Eyes! Inspired by our comradery, we hope that BIG BREAK helps inspire you to reach your goals!

Sung by: Jack Elliott, Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

Pointing at the constellations
He tells of stories written in the sky
But the twinkle in his eyes are just reflections
And when we speak of stars I know that we can fly

With songs and sails on the wings of angels
With a future as bright as the ember inside your heart

Now I know
This is my big break
With you and me and whatever it will take
We always knew
This story is all I can make
We will show
That this is our big break

Cowering from lacerations
They tell of times that greater men fell
But the trees scream speculation
And you plant the seeds where no one else can tell

A word of vice in a world of advice
To force a notion of failure brings passion back to life

Now I know
This is my big break
With you and me and whatever it will take
We always knew
This story is all I can make
We will show
That this is our big break

Now I know (now I know)
This is my big break
Now I know
Without a doubt inside my mind
With whatever it will take (now I know)
Big break (big break)
Big break (big break)
With you

Pointing at the constellations
We write the stories retold in the sky
Commanding every new creation
The stars shine brightest inside your eyes

Day or night what a joyous light
With a future as bright as the ember inside your heart

Now I know
This is my big break
With you and me and whatever it will take
We always knew
This story is all I can make
We will show
That this is our big break

10. 1999

The cutest end to album you could hope for, 1999 is reminiscent of everything you find nostalgic.

Sung by: Jack Elliott, Emma Dawn

Lyrics:

Memories of a summer long gone by
Shines brightly within her perfect pretty eyes
She’s so perfect

Thoughts of a future that could never be
Passes by with her never seeing me
Please don’t mock it

She's a perfect ten
Out of ten
Out of ten
Out of ten but more

She’s my 1999
And the way her smile shines
Sends shivers down my spine
She’s my 1999

She’s a perfect girl in a less than perfect world
And when I see her finally glance my way
I know this must be love

She’s a perfect ten
Out of ten
Out of ten
Out of ten but more

She’s my 1999
And the way her smile shines
Sends shivers down my spine
She’s my 1999

Standing before me
Actually above
I see you soar free
This must be love
Spread your wings and fly
I promise I’ll never say goodbye
I love you yeah
I love you

My 1999
And the way her smile shines
Sends shivers down my spine
She’s my 1999

She’s the last of the good times
We’ll make the headlines when she’s mine
My 1999
(Woah)
