Two years ago this week, we decided to make our band a professional reality.
Not many people really believe us when we say that our career is Fat Stallion. But ever since deciding to do this, it is all that we want.
Around three years ago, we got to meet the Kimble family. A driving force in the local music scene and now the national music industry, this family decided that they wanted to help us succeed. They gave us advice early on (both musically and relationship-wise), and were there for us when we decided we needed to record an EP! We put together the money we had and scheduled the studio time for the week of spring break. And what a week!
We rented a condo for our stay and headed down to Boulder, and recorded five songs in five days. There was instrument shopping, concerts, lots of coffee and cookies, partying, and a lot of time cheering each other on from the couch in the booth. We pushed each other musically, and made some freaking magic.
We were finally able to hear what our songs were trying to be.
And that Friday night after experiencing all of this, we had some feelings to discuss. We had our biggest heart-to-heart yet, sharing our hopes and fears and dreams with each other. It was the first major development of our real friendship, and we decided that Fat Stallion was worth pursuing as our life-long career.
Within the month, we had found a suitable house in Colorado. We moved at the end of the school semester and left school behind us (much to the apparent amazement of our friends and teachers). And while our start may have been a little slow, we've been gaining traction.
