Today puts all of us creators in an interesting place, where we now have unprecedented access to the world! Everyone has an idea to share and that is wonderful- albeit just a little overwhelming?
The creative world is crowded and as a result, it is difficult to get your art seen and feel like you have original ideas (I love when I have an idea and find out it has already been done dozens of times 🙄).
Hopefully I can set you at ease a little... thought, maybe not.
It's ok to be similar to others with your ideas.
I want this on a plaque in my house. I constantly am so disheartened by the fact that "nothing I do is original". The simple fact of the matter is: no matter what you do,
every project and idea you have will inherently be unique because it was done by YOU, because of HOW you approach each project.
Similarity does not equal plagiarism! And you should not feel guilty or uninspired just because your ideas have been thought of before. There have been billions of humans born on Earth so far, it is darn near impossible to come up with something that NO ONE has thought of. And that's ok!! I promise.
Variety is so so important in the world, without new takes on old ideas, humanity would not progress. If there were only one YouTube channel, only one band making music, only one acrylic artist painting, the world would be a dull monopoly of worn-thin ideas. Without many people showcasing their take on an idea, what would humanity even be?
So I urge you: please don't hold back because you feel someone has done it before and done it better. You haven't made it yet, how can you know?
Please give your best effort and share what you have with the world.
This is far from the only blog, and probably VERY far from the best. That doesn't mean that there isn't a place for it, and likewise, our music and video content.
Getting seen is always going to be a challenge, unfortunately AND fortunately. The world is so full of different ideas, we have so much to choose from!
However your fan base and supporters will come, though it may take time. Do your research on how to reach people (it is surprisingly like creating friendships in real life!).
Support those around you and you will find yourself supported.
Nobody likes a friend who only cares about themselves, do they? While it is important to share and care for your own content, no one in this world can do it alone. It is imperative that you join a community of like-minded individuals, for yourself and for them! You will be amazed by the effort and ideas of others, and hopefully pull a little inspiration along the way.
Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it, and always remember,
YOU IS IMPORTANT<3
Hopefully this helped out a little, we'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments! Please leave a like to let me know that you read. :)
We couldn't do what we do without your support, and we appreciate it. Thoughtfully and respectfully from all of us in Fat Stallion-
